LOVE LANGUAGE and No. 85

LOVE LANGUAGE and No. 85

Love Language: How No. 85 Was Born and Why Scent Speaks Louder Than Words

At J.R Candle Company, every scent tells a story—but some tell my story.

Let me introduce you to No. 85, my personal signature scent and a candle that holds more than fragrance—it holds feeling. It’s the first scent I ever created just for me. A scent born from my love of intention, nostalgia, comfort, and self-awareness.

So why “No. 85”?
It’s not random. It’s rooted in identity.

The number 85 represents a time in my life that shaped how I view love, connection, growth, and purpose. It symbolizes my birth year—1985—a reminder of the beginning. The beginning of JoJo. Of resilience. Of curiosity. Of learning how to navigate love for others while learning to love myself.

When I sat down to formulate No. 85, I asked:
What does peace smell like to me?
What aroma feels like a hug, a breath of fresh air, and a little bit of sass all at once?

💫 The Scent Notes of No. 85:

  • Top: White tea & bergamot — delicate, clean, and uplifting

  • Middle: Amber & jasmine — warm, soft, a bit romantic

  • Base: Tonka bean, cedarwood & musk — grounding, soulful, and just the right amount of cozy

This blend became the aromatic equivalent of my love language.

💛 Let’s Talk Love Languages

We all give and receive love differently—whether it’s through acts of service, quality time, physical touch, gifts, or words of affirmation.
But there’s a lesser-known love language that often gets overlooked: scent.

Yes, scent.

Studies show that scent is the fastest link to memory and emotion. A certain fragrance can trigger calm, boost your mood, or bring you back to a cherished moment. When you gift someone a candle, you’re offering an experience—a vibe. That’s why I believe scent is one of the most powerful, sensory-based love languages.

🌿 Love Languages Start with You

Whether you're in a relationship or riding solo, understanding your love language is one of the most loving things you can do for yourself. It allows you to be more aware of what you need to feel cared for, connected, and seen.

Self-care and self-awareness go hand in hand.
Lighting a candle after a long day isn’t just ambiance—it’s an intentional moment to say,
“I see you, I hear you, I’m here for you.”

No. 85 became my ritual of grounding. It reminded me that I deserve peace, presence, and pause—just as much as anyone else I pour into.

🌟 How You Can Use Love Languages to Deepen Your Relationships

Understanding your own love language helps you pour into others with more intention, too.
Here’s how you can use scent as a love language in your relationships:

  • Gift your partner or friend a scent that reminds you of them. Include a note about why.

  • Create a signature home scent for your shared space. Let it be part of your memory together.

  • Use a relaxing scent during hard conversations or tender moments. Create a vibe that encourages calm.

🕯️ Your Love Language Might Be a Vibe

No. 85 isn’t just a candle.
It’s my heart in wax.
It’s scent as self-care.
It’s memory, reflection, and elevation—crackling away on a quiet evening.

Maybe scent is your love language too.

You can shop No. 85 in-store or online, and if you haven’t already, hop over to our Instagram and Facebook pages—we just dropped the meaning behind this scent in a brand-new post.
